Shuri Castle Park holds Shuri Castle's main building as its focal point, and is comprised of nearby cultural treasures such as Shureimon, Sonohyan-utaki-ishimon, Enkaku-ji ruins, and Bezai-tendo. In December of 2000 it was designated as a world heritage site under the name "Gusuku Sites and Related Properties of the Kingdom of Ryukyu."
