This unique group of rock formations is located on the coast in Nishi Oshima, on the eastern part of Kume island, and is designated as a national natural monument. The 5- and 6-sided rocks that appear at low tide look like turtle shells, and have also been called the turtle shell rocks; they number more than 1,000.
